St Moritz

St. Moritz is an exclusive resort town in the Engadine valley in Switzerland. It is made up of two areas that are seperated by a mile of lake shore; St. Moritz Dorf and St. Moritz Bad. The highest summit in the Eastern Alps, the Piz Bernina (4049m) lies a few kilometres south of the village. St. Moritz is considered the oldest and one of the most famous winter resorts in the world. Due to its favourable location residents enjoy over 300 days of sunshine a year. Every winter this alpine village hosts the "White Turf" horse race on the frozen Lake St. Moritz attended by the international 'Upper class'.

The official languages are Romansh and German. Popular winter sports downhill skiing/alpine cross-country skiing, figure skating, curling, bobsledding and tobogganing on the nearby world famous Cresta Run toboggan course.
