La Festa della Donna, (International Women's Day) is celebrated on 8th March in Italy as well as many other countries around the world (in some countries this is a national holiday).

This day is a combination of Mothers Day and St. Valentines Day where men give gifts to the women in their lives; wives, mothers, daughters, sisters etc. In Italy flowers and chocolates are often given at this time. You will see many men buying Mimosa (small yellow flowers) at this time of year.

However the true meaning of La Festa della Donna is about the history made by ordinary women who struggled through past decades for equal rights, peace, justice and development. What better way to celebrate these courageous women than a girls night out!
