Save the Toad!

The population of these amphibious creatures decreases dramatically every spring due to traffic.  They have to seek refuge elswhere as they are also being driven from their natural habitat because of more and more building work.

Ecologist, Stefania Mazzoli, is making an appeal for Italy to follow the same example of their Swiss neighbours from the Ticino region, who have built an underpass in order to help the toads and frogs cross the road safely. Besides the underpass, they also have a group of volunteers who patrol the area in Val Mulini between 7pm to 9pm every evening looking for these creatures in order to carry them across the road.  They are doing everything they can to prevent anymore of the amphibians being killed.
