Lake Como, Italy has all the ingredients to make for the perfect holiday.

People from Northern Europe are already familiar with the popular meat speciality that has its origin in the Arabian and Asian cuisine. The take-away food with either beef, chicken or mutton, thinly sliced and grilled, is served in a pita bread with salad and yogurt sauce. In the hectic life of big cities like Milan, the kebab is already appreciated as a fast food snack but as the kebab grows in popularity, you can now find a number of small food shops around Lake Como selling this speciality dish.

Is it simply a short phase of curiosity for the Italians in exotic food or will the trend continue? After all, the Italians are famous all over the world for their enthusiasm and loyalty to their local cuisine. To date tourists visiting Lake Como prefer the local food offered in great variety in restaurants, osterias or pizzerias to round off their Italian holiday.

What better compliments an Italian vacation than enjoying a “Focaccia” fresh from the oven or maybe a “Panino con Prosciuto” while taking a stroll along the lakeside and its splendid sights?
