Late autumn on Lake Como is a quiet season that has its unique charm. It is the time of the year when the mountain tops are already covered by snow, the temperature drops and the quietness invites for romantic walks and a hot chocolate in one of the numerous bars. The heating is switched on in some residential houses and in others you can see small puffs of smoke rising out of chimneys from wood-burning fires. Why don’t you help yourself to some roasted chestnuts sold at the stalls dotted around the piazza while strolling along the streets of Como? The town of Como is very beautiful in the autumn season and is ideal for exploring the endless narrow streets and the beauty of the traditional houses that tell the story of Como's erstwhile wealth. Visit the Duomo and admire the artful décor of the building, with the tourist season calming down towards the winter months, you may find Como more enjoyable at this time of year. Alternatively you could do some window shopping and check out the trends this winter will bring. For those visitors who like life to be a little bit more active, why not check out the list of outdoor sports and activities available here in and around Lake Como.
