| Get ready – the season of the “sagra” has started |
|
A “sagra” is a kind of folk festival Italians celebrate, preferably during summer time, dedicated to traditional food, local artisanry, music or patron saints. Driving through the little villages or just along Via Regina placards announce already numerous events. Although the festivities dedicated to food specialties are probably those that are most understandable for foreigners, also on a “sagra” in honor of a saint, simple but tasty and typical food is provided, one can stroll within the historic center or the lanes and immerse in the crowd. Often little sales booths offer their products. Some music and the typical Italian cheerfulness can be expected. We recommend you to check out the following two events both on June 26th: Sagra di “San Giovanni” at Bellagio. This events takes place in the district of San Giovanni and is best reached by car, coming from the Eastern shore or by ferry boat and then by car, coming from the western shore of the lake. Fireworks at the Isola Comacina to honor “San Giovanni”. The fireworks can be watched from the waterside or directly from the island itself.
