Lake Como, Italy has all the ingredients to make for the perfect holiday.

Lovers of classic cars mark this event in their calendars each year which is held on the last weekend in April.  The fine selection of classic cars from the early 20th century onwards are presented in the picturesque parks of Villa D'Este and Villa Erba drawing visitors from all over the world.

The “Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este” started out in 1929 as an annual car competition with awards being given for uniqueness, elegance and exceptional design. Todays events cherishes the tradition as well as innnovative models of contemporary cars. Owners of classic cars can apply as potential entrants within the following eight categories: Pre-War Competition Cars, Pre-War Open Sports Cars, Pre-War Open Four Seaters, Closed Two Door Cars from 1935 to 1950, Open Sports Cars, Post-War Closed Sports Cars, Post-War Competition Cars, Styling Studies from 1952 to 1965.

After two days of awards ceremonies (moderated in both English and Italian) and competitions for the selected participants and guests, the finale is a procession of the awarded cars before the judges and the public at Villa Erba. This years´exceptionally nice weather with temperatures up to 25 degrees drew the crowds with a high attendance of visitors on the Sunday at Villa Erba.

The participant most acclaimed by the audience this year was, without a doubt, the Scottish Formula One legend Sir Jackie Stewart. He and his son Paul presented their Mercedes 300 SL Coupé 1954 and won the first prize in the Class F: Post-War Closed sports car. Many of the visitors to this years classic car show completed their stay at Villa Erba with a stroll along the estates beautiful lakefront.
