Lake Como, Italy has all the ingredients to make for the perfect holiday.

A glider crashed into the forest in the Brianza area after encountering technical problems not long after take-off.  A similar incident happened in 2007 which took a life.  Thankfully this time no-one was seriously hurt.

  The freak accident happened on Friday afternoon on the way to Verzago airport. A little after 4pm in Rovellasca, the experienced pilot was ready for take-off with his glider being pulled along by another aircraft.  This was the standard procdure for getting the glider airborne which the pilot had done on many occasions without any difficulties.

According to the reconstruction it was thoguht that during the take-off phase technial difficulties arose from the force of the other aircraft pulling the glider along.  The experienced glider managed to limit the damage to the glider by crashing into the trees in close proximty to the take-off track.  The unharmed pilot remained in the trees for approximately one hour before being helped down by the National Fire Departments. Apart from schock, the pilot did not need any medical attention.
