Lake Como, Italy has all the ingredients to make for the perfect holiday.

A young man of German nationality recently lost his life on Mount San Primo, Erba (Lombardy Region of Italy) when he lost his balance and slid on the ice whilst walking in the mountains with his girlfriend.

Unfortunately this tragic accident happens too often in the winter months around Lake Como and Lake Lugano area. The Mountain Rescue Service for the Lake Como area suggests that it is better to stay at home rather than risk climbing in the mountains in the winter months when the weather is changeable. Too many people are over confident in their ability for mountaining climbing many of whom are ill equipped to tackle the pre-alps in winter.

Please take heed of the dangers of walking and climbing in the mountains in wintertime even if you are an experienced climber. Don't take any unnecessary risks.
