If you love skiing and snowboarding and various other winter sports, then there are a few resorts to choose from which are easy to reach by car. Valsassina is a great area for skiing/snowboarding situated in beautiful valley close to Lecco. The following resorts are all located in the province of Lecco: BOBBIO & VALTORTA AREA Info: www.pianidibobbio.com Tel: (+39) 0341 - 996101 PIAN DELLE BETULLE To reach Pian delle Betulle slopes you have to take the cable-car from Margno (30km from Lecco by car). You can reach the ski slopes from Alpe Paglio (from Casargo by car) where you are then taken by jeep to Pian delle Betulle, approximately 20 minutes by foot. MARGNO TICKET OFFICE Tel: (+39) - 0341 840020 GIUMELLO & PAGLIO AREA Located 33km from Lecco, two skiing areas close to each other which is particularly good for practicing cross-country skiing. Tel: (+39) 0341 - 840164 Madesimo (also known as Valchiavenna) is a small attractive village located in the province of Sondrio, approximately 50km northwest of Sondrio and on the border of Switzerland. This is probably better suited to intermediate skiers, as there is quite a significant difference in the terrain from the nursery slopes up to the next level. There is also a snowboarding park, again more suited to intermediates than beginners, but overall a lovely resort, good atmosphere and has a good lift system in place. Valtellina Area which includes; Bormio (which also has a Wellness Centre with thermal baths), Livigno (good for shopping) and Aprica (which is great for beginners as it has extensive nursery areas at village level). |
