Cycling is a good way of getting around Lake Como as well as keeping your fitness level up. During the summer months there can be mile-long queues of traffic along the lakeside, but with a bicycle you can avoid having to wait in these queues, you can nip through the traffic and get to your destiantion a lot quicker. This sport is very popular in Italy and the Italians are aware of cyclists on the road, however just be cafeful as with anywhere in the world, you will always find the 'car racer's' who can drive by you at speed and just a little too close for comfort! Ensure that you wear a bicycle helmet and have water with you at all times. If you think you will be cycling in the dark at all, then make sure you have lights on your bicycle and if possible a reflective vest to wear.
