The town council of Como (Municipality Cernezzi palace) have now put in place new rules for bars/restaurants on the area of public ground that they are allowed to occupy with their outside tables and chairs.
Every year more and more tables/chairs appear outside of bars and restaurants in the centre of Como. For this reason, the town council of Cernezzi Palace have decided that is is now necessary to crackdown on this problem before the city of Como becomes over-run with tables! Rules have now been put in place for the area of public ground allowed to be occupied by table and chairs outside of these businesses. In the last 3 years, the number of tables appearing is now 5 times more than before. The other problem is that it has also become an aesthetic issue. The new directives impose precise criteria regarding the colour and the materials of the furnishings of the bars and the restaurants. The crackdown of the Municipality will not only deal with this problem but also with the problem of all those managers of the businesses who occupy a space wider than that one granted. In order to ensure that the these rules are adhered to, policemen will do checks in the piazzas and other areas of the city where there are tables and chairs occupying outside space. Brass plates will be put in place so that the managers of these businesses can see the maximum outside area that they are allowed to occupy. |
