| Man Swims from Bellagio to Lecco |
|
He began the event at 8.20am from the Bellagio dock and arrived at Lecco around 1.40pm covering over 20 kilometers one hour ahead of his planned time. This was a trial as well as training for his next big challenge where Mr Margarit will take part in the Open International of Calamatta in Greece on 29th August. Mr Margarit said that the water was perfect; clean with no algae and just the right temperature. Swimming has been a hobby of Roberto Margarit for many years and as a boy he played waterpolo and recently rediscovered his passion for swimming and enrolled in a contest in the Strait of Messina (swimming from the tip of Italy to Sicily). Mr Margarit said that there was a boat present at all times during his crossing from Bellagio to Lecco with emergency aid onboard if needed. The swimmer commented that it would be irresponsible to attempt something like this without aids incase of an emergency as well as having bottles of water. |
