Lake Como, Italy has all the ingredients to make for the perfect holiday.

1)  A4 Route (approx 95km)

2) SS36 (Approx (87km)

• Head southwest and turn left toward Via Orio Al Serio then turn right at Via Orio Al Serio and continue on Viale Giacomo Matteotti.
• Turn left at SP117  (you will go through one roundabout).  Turn left to stay on this road and look for the signs for SS525/A4/Lecco/SS342/Milano and take the ramp that merges onto the SS671
• Take the exit toward A4/Treviglio/Bergamo and at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A4 ramp - this is a toll road.
• Now keep right at the fork and follow the signs for E66/Milano and merge onto A4 and travel along this road for approx 34km.
• Now take the Monza exit and merge onto the A52/Tangenziale Nord which is a toll road.
• SS36 Lecco-Monza exit toward Monza/Villa Reale/SS36/Lecco after which you will merge onto Viale Brianza.
• Continue along SP5/Viale Lombardia and then continue straight onto SS36/Viale Nuova Valsassina for approx 21 km and continue to follow SS36.
• Now take the SS342 exit toward Como/Bergamo and turn left at SS342 Via Volta.  You will go through 8 roudabouts as you continue to follow the SS342.
• Now you will arrive at a roundabout where you take the 1st exit onto Provinciale per Lecco.
• You will arrive at another roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Via Statale per Lecco and turn left to stay on this road.
• Continue on Via Briantea for 0.1km and turn left to stay on this road for 0.4km
• Continue on Via Luigi Dottesio and then turn right at Via Dante Alighieri.
• Slight left at Piazza del Popolo
• You have arrived in Como.

• Head southwest and turn left toward Via Orio Al Serio then turn right at Via Orio Al Serio and continue on Viale Giacomo Matteotti.
• Turn left at SP117  (you will go through one roundabout).  Turn left to stay on this road and look for the signs for SS525/A4/Lecco/SS342/Milano and take the ramp that merges onto the SS671
• Take the exit toward A4/Treviglio/Bergamo and at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A4 ramp - this is a toll road.
• Now keep right at the fork and follow the signs for E66/Milano and merge onto A4.  (You will be on this stretch of road for approx 47km - toll road)
• You need to take the exit onto the A8 heading toward A9/Como/Varese/Gravellona T/A26/E35/Chiasso/E62 - (on this stretch of reod for approx 10.5km - toll road).   
• Look for the exit for Como/A9/Chiasso take this exit and merge onto E35 and continue along the A9 road (for approx 23km).
• Take the Como Sud exit and merge onto Via Cecilio through one roundabout and take the 4th exit onto Via Pasquali Paoli and continue on Piazzale Camerlata, then Via Napoleona and a slight right at Piazza San Rocco.
• Now continue on Via Milano, a slight right at Piazza Vittoria and turn right to stay on Piazza Vittoria.
• Turn left at Viale Lecco, slight left at Piazza del Popolo and a slight right to stay on Piazza del Popolo.
• You have arrived in Como.

However, if you are heading for the western branch of the lake and do not want to go through the centre of Como, take the Como Nord exit  this will bring you out past MacDonalds and Bennet (large shopping centre) along Via Asiago (SS340) where you will arrive at a roundabout.  Here you will see signs for Cernobbio (which is a more scenic route down by the lakeside - narrow roads) or take the exit for Menaggio (up over the small bridge) which will take you to your destination; Argegno, Ossuccio, Tremezzo, Cadenabbia etc.
