| Four men impersonating police officers rob a house in Erba |

Four men impersonating police officers robbed and terrorized the inhabitants of a house in Erba. During the week beginning 10th February 2009, four men impersonating police officers (who were not in uniform) rang the doorbell of a house in Erba. The so called police officers told the inhabitants of the house that they had a warrant to search their house. Mr Roberto Curtis (62 years old) had no reason to worry and trusted these men. Mr Evaristo Turatti, the other inhabitant of the house, opened the door and invited them in.
Two of the police impersonators went up to the second floor with Mr Curtis. The remaining two men remained on the ground floor with Evaristo Turatti. They searched everywhere, behind the pictures, under to the carpets, in the closets, on consoles and around the shelves. The two men who were with Evaristo Turatti then returned to the ground floor and then one of the men proceeded to take out a gun and aim it at the heads of Roberto Curtis and Evaristo Turatti.
The men spoke and acted like military soldiers. They looked for the safe and they put on masks which (now looking like robbers). They threw Mr Turatti to the ground and twisted his arms behind his back and tied them up with nylon wire (same kind used for tying plants) and then tied up Mr Curtis too.
The police impersonators found the safe which was full of valuable watches and jewellery (Rolex, Cartier, Breitling, shining, a diamond and other jewels) and escaped with everything, he value of which amounted to 100 thousand euros. |
