Carnevale arrives in Menaggio |

The big day finally arrived and once again the sun came out for the event! The hardwork from the Events Committee paid off and the Carnevale paraded through Menaggio without a hitch.
It was a Brazilian theme for this years Menaggio 'float' with the participants dressed up in colourful costumes and cloaks with feathered masks. There was also a float from Croce which had a circus theme, with ringmasters trying to round-up their animals and lots of clowns in dazzling costumes dancing around and playing jokes on everyone. Noah and his Ark also made and appearance with every animal and bug you can think of. Many other participants from surrounding villages also took part in the parade as well as people in the crowd dressing up too and getting into the spirit of things. The parade started from the nursery school down by the lake and travelled along the lakeside road past the Piazza, turning onto Via Lusardi and down through Via Calvi into the Piazza. Once the parade had finished (twice round the village) there was music, food and drink being offered in the Piazza, with the fun carrying on into the evening. |
