| Car Confiscated over 2 Beers! |
|
Traffic police doing spot checks in Gravedona stopped 39 year old Giorgio Bassi from Traversa, Gravedona and breathalized him. Unfortunately Mr Bassi tested positive for alcohol in his blood equal to 1,54 grams/litre. Based on the new regulations for drink driving, the police confiscated his car, an Audi A3 which will be put up for auction by the courts on Tuesday 28th April.
This is the first time that a drink driving offence has been taken so seriously, not only has Mr Bassi been fined, but his driving licence suspended for a year and his car confiscated. The car will no doubt be sold quickly at auction. Whoever buys the car must continue to pay by instalments, even if they have the funds to purchase the car outright. The sister of Mr Bassi said that her brother had only acquired the car three months ago. The second-hand car was in excellent condition and cost €14,000 (of which the first two instalments were paid - €400) Now the car has been confiscated because her brother had two beers. |
