The victim was trying to help a friend who was on an inflatable and who had become scared when they realised just how far from the shore they had travelled. Tragically the rescuer drowned when their inflatable burst and they found themselves in the water (around 40m deep) unable to swim. The friend who had first got into difficulty desperately tried to grab the hands of their friend/rescuer but was unsuccessful as the young man did not re-emerge. |
