To Como
You can hire a car at Malpensa airport from one of the many international and national car rental companies.
Exit the airport and follow the signs to Milano. After approximately 10km follow the green signs for Milano. You will pass by the following exits: Busto Arizio, Castellanza and Legnano. Exit at the sign for A9 Como. After 20 km you pass through a pay toll at Como Sud.
We recommend that you look at the RAC website or google maps to plan and print off your route beforehand which gives you step by step directions. We have used this numerous times travelling by car from UK to Italy and found that it made the journey much more enjoyable.
Destination to westside of the lake by car…
If you wish to reach a destination on the Westside of the lake do not take the exits for Como Sud or for Monte Olimpino. Instead exit at Como Nord. Follow this road for approx 2km down towards a large roundabout in Como town then take the left exit off the roundabout towards Menaggio. This will take you up the Westside of the lake.
