Born in Naples on 10 April 1924, he is an Italian film actor/comedian and has has appeared in over 90 films between 1948 and 2001. He is well known for his roles in The Four Days of Naples, and as the alcoholic Union Army captain in the Sergio Leone film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in 1966.
Totò (born Antonio de Curtis)
Born in Rione Sanità, a poor area of Naples, Italy on 15th February 1898 and died on 15th April 1967 in Rome. A comic genius, he thrived on making people laugh not only with words but actions too. As well as being a talented actor/comic, he was also a film writer, composer and poet. He appeared in over 100 films (five of which he wrote). One of the his greatest and (and funniest films) is Miseria e noblita which is the story of two poor Neapolitan families, living in post-war Naples. The families seize upon an opportunity to pretend they are nobilty and for a short period of time live the life of luxury before their luck runs out.
