Airports & Stations

The Lake Como area is serviced by three major airports; Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate and Milan Bergamo Orio al Serio and two main rail networks; Trenitalia line - the Italian State Railways which uses the Como San Giovanni station. This is on the international Milan-Chiasso line and Ferrovie Nord Milano/Trenord line - which has several stations. There are excellent links from the airports and trains stations to and from Lake Como. However if you wish to travel around and see other areas of Italy you can easily do this by taking the train from Como San Giovanni Train Station to Milan Central and then boarding the ‘Frecciarossa’ train to any one of the following destinations; Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples, Salerno or Venice amongst other places. These high speed trains will get you there in no time at all. Lake Como has four main railway stations; San Giovanni, Lago Nord, Como Nord Camerlata and Como Nord Borghi as well as a number of smaller train stations situated on the eastside of the lake; Lecco, Varenna, Colico. However tourists and visitors are more likely to use San Giovanni and Lago Nord for links to the airports as well as taking day trips into Milan as well as various other destinations.
